Trent Perch

I had a few hours this evening on The Trent with my lure rod and was surprised to see the river looking good despite all the recent rain that's gone into it. After a quiet start my lure eventually hit into something but it didn't feel quite right. It turned out to be a pike of around 8lb but it was foul hooked in the tail! That was the only action from the pike for the evening but the perch were on the attack and I ended the evening with three of them, topped off by this beauty!

I was traveling light so just had my little spring balance with me which only goes up in half pound notches for a general idea and that reckoned around the 3lb mark (5lb in the net and that weighs 2lb wet) I knew it was a perch straight away because of the jagged fight it was giving but when it started taking line I knew it was a good one! I went back Thursday evening and had a couple more, biggest going to about a pound. The pike are very quiet lately?? Have you been out anywhere?
